Development Of Old Deanery Site
Development of the old Deanery site in Armagh street by the building of a twostorey block of business and professional suites facing on to an attractively-designed paved courtyard has been planned by a group which bought the land. The area, which has a frontage of 132 ft on Armagh street and runs back 165 ft will be sold in eight lots, six of which will have an area of 1840 sq. ft. and two, at the rear of the building, will have 2970 sq. ft. The courtyard is being developed with raised garden plots and trees, and a local artist has been engaged to design a sculptured fountain which will be in a pond and a focal point in the courtyard. To be known as Armagh Court, the building will be alongside the car-parking building proposed by Amuri Motors, Ltd. The building, which has been designed by Griffiths and Moffat, will be in reinforced concrete, and the corrugated iron roof will be carried on light steel trusses. The photograph above is of a model of the proposed building.
