INDIAN TOTEM POLE
Sponsors Thanked For Gift Christchurch yesterday formally acknowledged toe gilt of a totem pole presented to the city in 1960 by the Oregon Centennial Commission in appreciation of the hospitality toown by Christchurch to men of the United States Air Force and Navy passing through to and from the Antarctic. The Mayor (Mr G. Manning) took the opportunity of extending toe city's appreciation of the gift to Mr J. L. Marks, director of toe Portland Zoo, Oregon, and Mr L. Richards of the “Portland Oregonian.” The two men who left Christchurch for home yesterday will convey Mr Manning’s message to the Mayor of Portland.
