Controversial Bills (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON. Nov. 30. A brief Meat Export Control Amendment Bill would be introduced next week, the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) told Parliament today. The Meat Board has been pressing the Government for some time for a change in the law that would enable the Meat Export Development Company to operate in establisher'. overseas markets but Mr Holyoake did not indicate whether the biU would be on the lines desired by the Meat Board. The Prime Minister said that there might be an Architects’ Amendment Bill, a consolidating measure, and it was certain that there would be a National Research Council Bill. There would also be a Government Service Tribunal Bill and a Government Railways Bill consequent on the State Services Bill.

Mr Holyoake said that the Statutes Amendment Bill would go to the top of the Order Paper next week to be fallowed by 28 bills for third reading. “We should finish on December 7. If we can’t we will have to go beyond that,” said Mr Holyoake. Mr W. A. W 001-Branding Ban Proposed

At the request of the Wool Board the complete prohibition of wool branding was under consideration, the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Taiboys) said in the House of Representatives today. He had been asked by Mr G. G. Grieve (Government. Awarua) whether he would consider completely prohibiting the branding of sheep, because of the loss of export income Mid the penalty payments being claimed by overseas buyers from exporters of wool sold as free from brands.

After hearing from a witness that the Department of Internal Affairs had arranged for about 34,0001 b of brown trout from Lake Rotorua to be frozen and sent to Auckland for converting into fishmeal for feeding young rainbow trout the select committee on the fishing industry concluded that the present use of brown trout from the lake was wasteful and unnecessary

It recommended that the trout removed from the thermal lakes area be available for export
