During October ah* following ca»e* were dealt with in the Children's Court at Christchurch by Mr £. S. J. Crutchley, S.M.i—

A girl aged 15 and a boy of the same age were committed to the care of the Superintendent of Cilld Welfare, the girl on a complaint she was not under proper control and the boy on ciiargee of interfering with motor-cars and tnefu Two years - supervision was ordered for a boy of 14 charged with then. Supervision for one year was ordered for three boys aged It to 13. on wilful damage citargea. with restitution oi £5 10a, 11# ss. and £l6 Ids; two boys, aged 13 and 14. charged with theft; a boy of 11. on burglary and conversion charges, a 15-year-old boy charged with burglary, restitution amounting to £42 10*1 a 14-year-old on a complaint - of being not under proper control. and a lad. of the same age. on an indecent assault Charge; a boy of 14 and two of 15. on charges relating to theft and unlawful taking a restitution order of £l6 7* 7d. being made in one instance. Supervision for 18 months wae ordered for a 13-year-old boy charged with theft, while two girts, of 15 and 16. charged with consuming liquor in a public Place, were placed under supervision for six months. An extension of six months of a current supervision order was Imposed on a 15-year-old boy charged with theft. An extension of 12 months was ordered In the case of another 15-year-old boy on a complaint that he wa snot under proper control Five boys, aged 13 to 16. who appeared on charges of theft, assault, and disorderly behaviour. were admonished and discharged. as was a 14-year-old ffirl who used obscene language n a public place. A boy of 16. charged with unlawfully taking a motor-car. and two girls, of 13 and 14. charged with theft, were admonished and returned to th* care of the Superintendent of Child Welfare.

A fine of £5 was Imposed on a 14-year-old boy charged with theft, and on a charge of unlawfully taking a 16-year-old girl was fined £3.
