Party’s Gear May Be Lost (N.Z. Press Association) SCOTT BASE. Nov. 28. The equipment of a New Zealand Antarctic research programme field party involved in Sunday's Dakota aircraft crash on the polar plateau may have to be abandoned. New Zea land eis left behind one sledge, a motor toboggan, and equipment for a field radio station and scientific instruments. Apart from the crash, the motor-toboggan party’s trip was most successful, the four members said when they returned to Scott Base. They were Messrs W. R. Logie, leader, of Dunedin, P. M. Otway, of Te Awamutu. and K. A. J. Wise and O. R. Wilkes, of Christchurch. The last two accompanied the motor . toboggans to search for insects in the Victoria Land mountains.
