Mercy Flight By R.N.Z.A.F.
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 20. A “mercy mission" involving a three-year-old girl, was yesterday made by a Royal New Zealand Air Force Sunderland from Lauthala Bay. is the result of an accident on Thjkomba Island, 200 miles north-east of Suva, the youngster had severely cut her wrist, and when bleeding could not be stopped a radio call was made for assistance The Sunderland left Lauthala Bay at 1.46 p.m. and less than two hours later landed on the lagoon near the island's village. The child was attended on the return flight and on arrival at Lauthala Bay at 5.21 p.m. was taken by a waiting ambulance to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital, Suva.
