IMPORTS OF FRUIT
Agreement To Be Published (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Nov. 19. A new three-year agreement with the Government, allowing Fruit Distributors. Ltd., sole rights to import citrus fruit, bananas and pineapples, is expected to be signed in Wellington in the first week in January. This will allow the Minister of Agriculture (Mr Talboys), to table the agreement in Parliament, as he has said he will do. For the first time terms of the contract will thus be revealed to the public. Fruit Distributors, Ltd., whose shareholders are the 55 or so fruit merchants in New Zealand, was formed in 1951, after the dissolution of the former Internal Marketing Division. The new contract will represent the third extension of the initial agreement.
