ABANDONED RACE
Approval Not Given (HZ. Press Association) WELUNGTON, Nov. 19. A statement attributed to him in a report from Auckland that "he had notified conference approval” of the Waikato Racing Club's decision to cancel the running of the Cambridge Handicap, was denied by Mr A. M. McBearth, secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference, today. The Cambridge Handicap, second leg of the Totelisator Agency Board double at the Waikato Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday, was run after the sta rtar had declared a false start.
Mr Mcßeath said today that the message he gave to a member of his staff to relay to the Waikato Racing Club was that as far as he was concerned there was no objection to the club’s decision to caincel the race. Mr Mcßeath added that he co-uld not have given the oonference’s approval without first conferring with the president and the members of the executive committee.
*‘ln any case.” said Mr Mcßeatih, "under the doubles totalisator regulations the double has to be on any two races, other than division races, run on the same day of any race meeting.”
