ANTARCTIC VISIT
Mr J. B. Collett Back The Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr J. B. Colletti who has returned from a week's visit to Antarctica spoke warmly yesterday of the courteous treatment he had been given there. Outstanding events of his trip were four hours spent at the South Pole last Tuesday and visits to United States nuclear reactor, Byrd Statical. Scott Base. Shackleton’s but at Cape Royds and the penguin rookery at Cape Royds. Mr Collett said the Americans did everything possible to make the party welcome and provided every facility for them to observe the wide variety of scientific activity in the area in the limited time available.
