URBAN AREA BOUNDARY
No Changes Proposed
There should be no recommendation for a change in the urban boundary at this stage, the Christchurch Regional Planning Authority decided yesterday. The rural zone, the first section of the regional planning scheme, would be subject to review in about two or three years’ time, it said. The authority’s views were sought by the Christchurch Drainage Board as a result of an approach by the residents of an area of Heathcote bounded by Scruttons road, the railway line and Port Hills road for sewerage of the area. The board asked whether the sewering of the area might prejudice the authority's intentions of keeping it rural. Any exceptions to the scheme should be considered as a whole, not piecemeal, for there were other areas affected, Mr E. Somers said.
