Car Plunges Into River

A pre-war American car hit the wooden fence along the river bank in Avonside drive, crashed through and came to rest on its side in the Avon river about 2 a.m. on Sunday. Four persons were taken to the Christchurch Hospital but two of them were found to be uninjured. Ray Langyon, of sfl Tory street, suffered multiple lacerations, and Annette Solway, whose address was given as care of the Y.W.C.A., suffered minor lacerations and shock. The other two persons in the car were Rex Stackhouse, of 4 Robson avenue, and Peter May, of 353 Barrington street. The accident happened opposite Hanmer street.
