Sept. 18 “When people who are not doctors dictate what doctors are to do you run into trouble that isn’t good for anyone,” according to Dr. Charles Mayo, professor of surgery and direct descendant of the founder of the famous Mayo Clinic, New York, at the Wakari Hospital today. The “trouble” became apparent in such spheres as socialised medicine to which Dr. Mayo is uncompromisingly opposed—fluoridation of water supplies, and heart lung machines.

“I don’t believe people are better treated under socialised medicine,” he said.
