Car Strikes Pole
Lacerations to the face were suffered by James Steel, whose address is given as the Golden Eagle Hotel, Greymouth, when a car he was driving struck a power pole in Deans avenue near Riccarton road about 8.20 p.m. yesterday. Mr Steel, a showman, is staying at the Riccarton Hotel. He was taken to the Christchurch Hospital by a St. John ambulance and after treatment was transferred to t.he Princess Margaret Hospital. His condition could not be ascertained late last evening. The car, a small English model, was extensively damaged in t.he front.
