Cycling N.Z. AMATEUR TITLES

Colts’ Winner Is Schoolboy (N.Z. Press Association) NEW PLYMOUTH, Aug. 31. An 18-year-old Auckland apprentice and a 15-year-old Otago schoolboy provided the highlights on the first day of the New Zealand amateur road cycling championships on the Kaimiro circuit, south of New Plymouth, today. The Aucklander, D. M. Nigh, won the junior championship for the second successive year, while the schoolboy, R. Biggs, won the first national colts title. Biggs, who will be 18 in October, is a member of the Dunedin Amateur Cycling Club. He began training two months ago for the race, but has been busy studying for the School Certificate at the King Edward Technical College. Results were:— Colts —R Biggs (Otago. Southland) 1 M.
