TRANSPLANT SUCCEEDS
Dog’s Eye For Blind Man (N Z Press Assn.—Copyright) BAGDAD. August 31 Dr. Salah Aldin Aljarah. an Iraqi surgeon who transplanted a dog’s eye into a blind man in Mosul, said yesterday the result of the operation was ‘‘extremely heartening.” Appearing on a Bagdad television programme, he said that the transplanted cornea of the dog had healed in the blind man’s eve. the Associated Press reported But at the same time some complications had resulted, as was usual tn cases of transplanting a cornea from man into man He said that in spite of such complications, the man’s sight had improved and he was now able to see the moving of his hand at a distance of 20in. “We cannot give a final decision in this case unless we make sufficient operations of the same kind ” An advertisement tn the “Althawara” newspaper asked citizens to sell their good, healthy wolf dogs for medical purposes.
