ARRIVAL IN AUSTRALIA
3-Week Tour Begins (N.Z. Press Assn.-—Copyright) CANBERRA, August 26. King Bhumibol and Queen Sirikit were greeted by a crowd of 3000 when they stepped from their aircraft today to begin a three-week tour of Australia.
As the Royal couple appeared. more than 100 Thai students enthusiastically waved Thai flags. The King was wearing his Air Force uniform while Queen Sirikit chose a dark brown fur coat, a white pillbox hat and white frock. The Royal Australian Air Force band played the Thai National Anthem and eight Sabr“ jet fighters of the R.A.A.F roared past overhead in salute.
King Bhumibol inspected a guard of honour before meeting Australian Cabinet Ministers, sendee chiefs and the dean of the diplomatic corps, the West German Ambassador. Dr. Hans Muhlenfeld.
The Royal couple were met by the Administrator of the Commonwealth (Sir Dallas Brooks) and Ladv Brooks, the Prime Minister (Mr Menzies) and Dame Pattie Menzies. and the Thai Ambassador 'Mr Vadhana Isarab"?,"i) and Mrs Isarabhakdi After the forma) presentations. the visitors drove 11 miles to Government House Their only engagement today is an informal dinner at Government House.
