CRICKET Yorkshire And Surrey Lead

LONDON. August 25. The county cricket championship became a “two horse” race, with the title almost definitely resting between Yorkshire and Surrey, when all four contenders drew their matches yesterday. Yorkshire lead the table after 29 games with an average of 7.10. followed by Surrey, 26 games, average 6.61. Worcestershire and Warwickshire are third and fourth with averages of 6.40 and 6.34 respectively.

Yorkshire, which has a programme of 32 games, and Surrey, which plays 28. are currently playing at the Oval. Yorkshire’s other games are against Leicestershire and Glamorgan, while Surrey has to play Hampshire.
