DOG-KILLER HUNT
£2OO Reward Offered
(Special Crspdt N.Z P.A ) LONDON. Aug 23.
The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has offered a £2OO reward in the hunt for a dogkiller. It is the first time it has ever taken such a step and it has done so. according to a society spokesman, “because of the enormity of the crime”
"We are absolutely horrified by this case." he added "We fear the killer may strike again. I look upon this as one of the most barbaric and diabolical cases the society has encountered since it was formed over 100 years ago.’’
The dog in question was a two-year-old Alsatian bitch which was tied to a railway line in Staffordshire and left to be run over by a train. Two of her legs were severed and she had to be destroyed.
Police and R.S.P.C.A. inspectors have started an intensive search in the hope of locating the person responsible. Since the case was publicised in the papers, dozens of people have telephoned the R.S.P.C.A offering to contribute to the reward for information with amounts ranging from £5 to £550.
