Six Contracts Let
Six contracts let this week by the Christchurch Drainage Board include the big jobs of the second section of the lower , Sockburn-Yald-hurst sewer’ reticulation project and the Buchanans road collecting sewer.
For the first of these contracts, the board received 10 tenders ranging from £35,586 to £54,727 and accepted the lowest, that of Waddell Construction, Ltd. Eleven tenders were received for the Buchanans: road sewer. The lowest was £24,517, the highest £34,848, and the board accepted the second lowest tender, that of E. O’Sullivan. The lowest tender was that of Waddell Construction, Ltd. In the case of the contract for the Curletts road drain, the board also accepted the second lowest tender—£ll,223 by Wadey and Efford, Ltd.—of 10. E. O'Sullivan had the lowest price of £10,792, and tenders ranged to £14,467.
There was a wide spread of figures in the eight tenders for the Matipo street stormwater outfall, the lowest being less than half the highest. The board accepted the £4209 submitted by Archer and Stopforth. The same contractors were awarded the contract for the third section of the Blenheim road area sewer reticulation, their tender of £9283 being the lowest of seven, which ranged to £16,936.
