DENTISTS BILL
Consolidation Measure
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON. Aug 24
The maximum fine which may be imposed by a court on an unregistered person who practises dentistry is doubled by a Dental Bill introduced to Parliament today. The fine now provided for is one of up to £2OO. This is one of several significant amendments to the existing law made by the bill, which is. however, substantially a consolidation of the Dentists Act. 1936. and its amendments. The bill reconstitutes the Dental Council, provides for discipline within the dental profession, creates a specific offence and penalty for breach of a bursar’s contract. and gives power to the Director-General of Health, if requested by the Dental Council, to enter and inspect premises being used for the practice of dentistry.
Oven Fire.— No damage was done when an oven in a house at 15 Fovant street. Yaidhurst. caught fire yesterday afternoon. One engine from the Sockburn station attended the fire.
