CHANNEL 3 FAILURE
Programme Off For Hour
A harassed receptionist at Channel 3 continued to answer telephone calls last night at the rate of seven a minute for nearly an hour after a transmission failure at 9.22 p.m. The number of calls acknowledged was limited only by the speed with which she manipulated the switchboard and replied. “I am sorry, we have no information available.” The fault was found to be caused by a resistor breakdown in the transmitter. Transmission was resumed at 10.24 p.m. and continued to the end of the advertised programme
The failure occurred during the transmission of “Tales of Wells Fargo.” which began at 911 p.m. Other programmes affected were "Perry Mason,” scheduled for 9.38 p.m., and the late weather forecast and news at 10.30 p.m.
