WINNER AT CAULFIELD
Son Of My Hero
Albury King, the winner of a division of the Chatsworth Stakes over one mile at Caulfield last Saturday, is a son of the New Zealand-bred Caulfield Cup winner, My Hero, which is standing at a small establishment in Victoria.
My Hero, a son of Neptune and Otetanui, reached the best handicap class in New Zealand before going to Australia for the Caulfield Cup. Not many of his progeny have raced, but most of them have been smart performers. Albury King is regarded as very promising.
My Hero is a half-brother to Bruce and Royal Tan, both of which won the Wellington Cup. They were the first three foals of Otetanui. a Paper Money mare which was bred at Wanaka by Mr J. Faulks. The later foals of Otetanui, which died in 1959. failed to equal the first three, although Manama, by Sun King, won the Veteran Stakes at the 1958 Melbourne Cup meeting. Otetanui's latest winner is the Isaac of York gelding. Tidal Wave.
