RELUCTANT PUPILS
Suggestion By Teachers
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, Aug. 23. Headmasters of postprimary schools should be able to initiate proceedings exempting individual pupils below the age of 15 from further schooling, the Postprimary Teachers’ Association's annual conference decided today. The remit adopted stated that a head-master should have this power if he deemed it in the best interests of the school and the pupil concerned.
it also recommended to the Education Department that applications for exemption by such pupils be handled by a post-primary rather than a primary inrptctor
The mover of the motion. Mr A. S. Black (Auckland), said the principal should be able to initiate such proceedings so that unsatisfactory pupils under 15 could be taken ‘‘nicely away from school.”
