FLIGHT TO SOUTH

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Aug. 22. Group Captain D. F. St. George, director of operations at the Air Department, flew to Auckland from Wellington to take command of the arrangements to fly the King and Queen of Thailand and their party from Auckland to Christchurch tomorrow.

Twenty-nine aircrew and a •ervicing party of 17 are responsible for the seven aircraft which will transport between 65 and 70 members of the Royal party. Briefing of the flying crews will begin at 9.30 am. for those taking the two Bristol Freighters and two of the Dakotas south. The two former will leave at 11 a.m. and the Dakotas at 1.35 and 1.40 p.m. For the other aircraft, a briefing will be held at noon. The Royal Viscount will depart at 3.20 p.m.. followed at five-minute intervals by the third Dakota and the Devon, which will carry the controlling party.
