Swimming EMPIRE GAMES SQUAD
Training Begins At Tauranga (N.Z. Press Association) TAURANGA. August 20. The New Zealand Empire Games swimming training squad began training at the Tauranga Memorial Park swimming pool this morning in perfect conditions. Twenty-one New Zealand senior and junior champions entered the pool under the eve of Mr Jack Lyons. New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association coach supervisin’ the training. It was a gigantic venture having the junior and senior teams together. Mr Lyons said.
“A most amazing sight.*' said Mr R. Shakespeare, president of the New Zealand association after watching the swimmers in training. This was competition training at its highest level, he said.
