Smart 2-Yr-Olds At Trials
"The Press" Special Service MATAMATA, August 20. Some smart youngsters were seen out at the annual two-year-old trials at Matamata today. Although the track had been put back after Saturday’s meeting the going was very dead. The youngsters ran from the mile and a quarter post to the winning post, 22 yards under two furlongs. The fastest time was recorded by an unnamed black Ally by Count Rendered from Divine, which took 25 l-ssec. She is trained by M. A. Martinovich and is out of a daughter of the champion Sweet Nymph. She beat what looked a strong field easily and could be good. She will not be on hand for the early two-year-old races as she will now be spelled for a couple of months to allow her to develop further. Martinovich produced a very forward gelding in Riglow, by Super from Teriro. to win the second heat nicely. In the Blue, by Count Rendered from Hysue, was a good second and is also well forward. Frame Up, a tall colt by Resurgent from Picturesque, herself a smart juvenile, easily won the third heat. Although not as forward, a number of others impressed as likely to do well later.
