Flames shot 70 feet into the air when » semi-trailer caught fire While refuelling at a service station in the Melbourne suburb of Clayton last the height of the blaze the semi-trailer’s three petrol tanks, containing a total bf 150 gallons exploded, showering the area with burning petrol. The fire, one of the most spectacular seen in the area, burnt out the truck and its 12-ton load of toilet paper. The blast hurled the truck driver, Mr Bruce Cochrane, aged 23, of Noble Park, into a puddle of water, but he was not hurt. The blaze spread to nearby petrol bowsers, blistering paint, but firemen doused the flames before they endangered three large underground petrol tanks below ttie semi-trailer. Damage was estimated at £15,000.
