Presentation To Mr L. B. Newton
About 200 members of the Papanui High School Old Sudents’ Association gathered in the assembly hall last evening to say farewell to the retiring headmaster •Mr L. B. Newton! and Mrs Newton. A 35mm colour camera was presented to Mr Newton, on behalf of the association, by the pres dent (Mr A Voice)
Mrs Newton was presented w.th a leather travel bag by the v.ce-president (Mrs J. F Dodgson) Musical items were presented by former pupils. Tribute to Mr Newton’s qualities as a headmaster was paid by Mr Voice.
In reply. Mr Newton spoke of the school and of the various changes which had occurred over the years In addition to past pupils, board and staff members also amended the function.
