Billiards RECORD ENTRY FOR CONTEST

First Round Draw (N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, August 5. A record number of 18 players will take part in the billiards section at the New Zealand amateur billiards and snooker championships, to be held in Invercargill, starting on August 20. Entries for the billiards closed last night, and all the main centres are represented with the exception of Dunedin. The entries include the present champion. A. Albertson (Auckland) and A. TwohiU (West Coast), who was champion five times. . t The championships will be conducted on a two-life basis, in preference to the “round robin" system advocated by the local association earlier In the week. The draw for the first round is:—A. Albertson (Auckland) v. F. Hoiz (South Auckland>: T. Scammell (West Coast) v. E Simons (Canterbury): A. Twohill (West Coast) v. T. Yesberg (Canterbury); W. Harcourt (Wellington v. K. Murphy (Canterbury); B. Kirkness (Canterbury) v. N. Hanson (North Otago): S. Moses (South Auckland) v. G. Geddes (North Otago): J. Proctor (Southland) v S, Moffitt (North Otago); W. Glass (Auckland) v. H. Robinson (Wellington); J. Clark (West Coast) v. A. Redmond (Auckland). The snooker entries and draw will be announced early next week.
