CHATHAM CUP RESULTS
Minor Centres* Successes Saturday's results in the 2uarter-finals of the Chatham up national inter-club soccer competition have brought about the most unusual situation of three teams from minor associations in the semi-finals. Of the four semi-finalists only the oresent holder of the trophy. Northern of Dunedin, represents a major centre. Northern scraped through its match with Invercargill Thistle 2-1. scoring the winning goal in extra time. Christchurch's Western lost to Nelson Rangers on corners after extra time, Auckland's North Shore lost to Hamilton Technical, and Seatoun. of Wellington, was elmtnated. 3-1 by Moturoa, a New Plvmouth club Whatever the result of the North Island final between Moturoa and Hamilton Technical. North Island s finalist will be a minor association team. Not for 30 years has a minor association side made the national Chatham Cup final. The team concerned then was All Blacks from Buller, which was runner-up to Wellington Marist in 1932 and to Ponsonby tn 1933
