R.A.F. HONOUR CADET
Chch. Man At Cranwell (Special Crspdt N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, July 31. A New Zealander, Senior Under Officer Russell Thomson today passed out of the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell, Lincolnshire, as an honour cadet. Senior Under-Officer Thomson. aged 22, of 10 Walnut avenue, Papanui, Christchurch, is to return home to a permanent commission in the Royal New Zealand Air Force as a pilot. He won three awards— Cranwell’s Sword of Honour, the R. S. May memorial prize and the J. A. Chance memorial prize. The Sword of Honour and the R. S. May prize go to the best all-round flight cadet. The J. A. Chance prize goes to the flight cadet obtaining the highest position in term work and examinations in a variety of subjects. He was also captain of fencing.
