‘Country Would Take Soblen’ (NZ.PA.-Reuter—Copyright / LONDON. July 31 The runaway American spy. Dr. Robert Soblen, has been offered asylum by an unnamed country. A Labour M.P., Mr Scholefield Allen, said today there had been "an offer from another country to take Dr. Soblen straight from prison." Mr Allen is appealing to the Home Secretary <Mr Henry Brooke! to grant Soblen political asylum in Britain. He said: "I cannot reveal the name of the other country at present, but the offer is there and could be accepted at onoe." Soblen has been detained in prison in London since July I when he was taken off an airliner at London Airport after stabbing himself on a flight from Tel Aviv to the United States. He had jumped bail in New York and fled to Israel where he unsuccessfully sought asylum.
