FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—Anti-cyclones extend over the south Tasman Sea and the South Island. An easterly airflow prevails over the North Island. Forecast:

Canterbury, Nelson and West Coast.—Light or moderate winds, mainly easterlies or north-easterlies; some areas of low cloud about the Canterbury coast in the morning and at night, otherwise weather mainly fine with moderate to cool temperatures. Outlook: fine.

Marlborough.—South-easterlies, fresh to strong in some exposed places about the Sounds, moderate elsewhere; partly cloudy apart from some isolated showers about the coast and ranges; cool temperatures. Outlook: little change.
