TAX EVASION CONVICTIONS
Notice Of Appeal Lodged
A notice of appeal has been lodged by Annette Marv Eleanor Jane Clifford, a Christchurch property owner, against her conviction and sentence on each of nine charges of tax evasion on June 22. „ , Mrs Clifford was fined the maximum amount of £lOO on each charge of wilfully filing false returns of income —deficient in total by £238.613—f0r the financial years from 1950 to 1958 inclusive. Mrs Clifford states as her grounds of appeal that site was wrongly convicted and that the amount of the fine is excessive.
The notice names Mr P H. T. Alpers as Mrs Clifford's solicitor.
