Situation.—lntense anti-cyclones are centred over the south-west Tasman Sea and to the east of the South Island. A south-easterly airstream prevails over the North Island. Forecast;—

Canterbury.—Light or moderate winds, mainly easterlies or north-easterlies, mainly cloudy about the coast; some scattered light rain, especially morning and night: Outlook: little change. Marlborough.—Fresh to strong' southerlies in exposed coastal places, light or moderate easterlies elsewhere: cloudy in coastal areas; some showers at times; partly cloudy inland; temperatures cool. Outlook: little change.

Nelson and West Coast.—Light to moderate easterlies predominating; fine; moderate afternoon temperatures. Outlook: fine.
