“Exodus”
Sir, —I wa® sorry to read that a Christchurch cinema is to screen the anti-British film. “Exodus." It gives a grossly distorted view of the founding of Israel, depicting the Jewish terrorists of the Irgun and Stern bands as heroes, and the British “tommies” as the villains. After all, it was the British “tommy” who saved the Jews from Hitler’s wrath, and later in Palestine tried to hold the ring for both Arab and Jew. That such an obvious propaganda film should be shown in a British country is a disgrace to all concerned. It should be banned forthwith—Yours, etc., B. B. THOMPSON. Ashburton. June 22, 1962. [The Government Film Censor (Mr D. C. Mclntosh) had no comment to make ] I. .L
