REGRADING OF PLAYER
Boys’ High School
Student
At the request of the Christchurch Boys' High School Rugby Club, the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evening agreed to allow J. Brebner, a pupil of the school, to be regraded from senior reserve to under 20 to enable him to play for the school fifteen.
The request involved a change of clubs, as Brebner was a member of the Old Boys senior reserve side, but the committee decided that as Brebner was a bona fide student, he should be allowed to play for the school team.
It appeared that Brebner was unable to gain selection for his school teams, so he played for Old Boys on Saturdays. Mr C. H. McPhail said. Brebner had eventually become a member ot the senior reserve side, but he was still a student at the school and was quite young. Second Protest By Christchurch For the second time this season the Christchurch Rugby Club has lodged a protest against the University third grade C team. A letter from Christchurch which said that two members of that club. A H. Harris and W F. Morton. were playing regularly for the University team, was received by the management committee of the Canterbury Rugby Union last evenlll"in view of the fact that neither player has been granted a clearance from this club, my committee has requested that the union Investigate this matter." the letter said. "I move that University be written to.” Mr H. C. Blazey said. “We should get a cyclostyled reply this time." "Perhaps we should ask their secretary to attend our meeting." the chairman (Mr J O Hattersley) said amid laughter. It was decided to ask University for an explanation.
