Wigram Well Beaten
Fielding a tight zone defence and playing more controlled basketball. Boys' Gordon Hall A beat Wigram, and went into a two-point lead, in the Canterbury Men's Basketball Association's competition, at the Cowles Stadium last night.
The accent was on teamwork P Doogue, P. Simpson and W Shaw leaped well for the rebounds, and M. Mackav cut nicely Wigram was forced into handling errors and inaccurate shooting. Wigram la now second, equal with Y Boys, with 22 points University A played attractive basketball to beat Rex B. which could find no counter to the fast breaking play of T. Morris and W. Smith, who scored 28 points between them. R Zachariassen played an intelligent game, and netted a further 10 points.
Y Boys was allowed some latitude in the match against University B. and made Its highest score of the season Results were:—
A Grade.—Boys' Gordon Hall A 3t. Wigram 14; Rex A 30. Boys' Gordon Hall B 23: University A 53. Rex B 21; Y Boys 56 University B 19.
