The defeat of both the thin' and fourth-ranked Canterburj players, M. J Simone and R. P. M. Hili, after many previous attempts, at last succeeded in beating Pattinson, and his first win could hardly ha.e been achieved more convincingly. Pattinson was a little out of touch, missing several

drop shots and offensive boasts, but Hill was always on top to win in straight games He kept a very good length, made mufh more of the play than usual against Pattinson. and made a minimum of errors Hill's tesna.
