CERVICAL CANCER
Practitioners’ Campaign (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 10. ' The College of General Praoutioners would conduct a sustained New Zealandwide campaign over som? years to detect cancer of the uterus by the smear test, said Mr R. O Regan, chairman of tox Wellington-Tara-naki-Haw-ke’s Bay division of the Br.tish Empire Cancer Campaign Society at its annual meeting tonight. “Cur views on the matter are iden ical with those of the college," he said The college bad appealed to the society for its help and the society was going to encourage the college to undertake this work. It was the kind of thing which had to be done for "years and years" and was a personal master for the doctor and his patient. Much publicity had been given to campaign's being undertaken to detecting this form of cancer in its precl'inical stage. These campaigns had a considerable value and this type of examination was worth-while. “From our point of view we regard them as special field research projects," said Mr O'Regan.
