Violence Against Jews In Argentina

BUENOS AIRES, June 29.

The execution of Adolf Eichmann, who was kidnapped from Argentina last year and taken to Israel for trial, has caused an outbreak of anti-Semitic activity in the country, the Associated Press reported.

Swastikas were carved on the face of an 18-year-old Jewish youth in Buenos Aires yesterday. The mutilated youth. Riccardo d’Alessandro, later told police that five youths aged about 20, all wearing blue raincoats, seized him on a quiet street as he was walking to the university. Two of the youths held d'Alessandro’s arms behind his back while two others kicked him in the groin and shouted anti-Semetic insults.

The fifth youth acted as a lookout.

After the beating one of the attackers pulled a knife and as the others held down the screaming d’Alessandro, carved swastikas on his face. D’Alessandro was the second known victim of this type of attack Ln a week. Last week, a 19-year-old Jewish girl, Graciela Sirota, was kidnapped by youths, who ripped off her blouse and carved a swastika on her right breast. Jewish proprietors yesterday closed their shops, factories and offices in protest against the attack on Miss Sirota. A pro-Nazi demonstration staged by nationalist youth groups in the streets last night was quickly quelled by policemen who arrested two unidentified youths.
