CHARITABLE BEQUESTS

Three Spinsters’ Legacies Bequests of £lOOO each to the Methodist Central Mission’s Wesley Lodge Hospice and the Red Cross Society are made in the will of Annie Sayers, a spinster, of Sumner, who died on May 19. Probate of the will was granted in the Supreme Court yesterday. The estate was sworn at under £6270. Miss Sayers also left her household effects and jewellery to the Christchurch Methodist Central Mission. Her house property, subject to a residential interest for her brother, is to be held in trust for the mission for its general charitable purposes. The residue of the estate has been left to the South Island Methodist Orphanage and Children’s Home, Papanui. In the will of Hilda Maud Bretell, a spinster, of Christchurch, who died on June 2, the residue of her estate after private bequests totalling £7OO has been left to the Christchurch Presbyterian Social Service Association to provide homes for old persons. The estate was sworn at under £2900.
