More than 110 schools in Christchurch and surround, ing districts were recently offered the choice of nine topics for study in Canterbury Museum school classes during the rest of this year. Seventy schools have replied, requesting 260 lessons—sufficient to fill all available teaching time left in 1962. . Three pilot classes have been held to test three new lessons: seasons of the year, wind systems of the world, and day and night. For these the museum’s huge revolving globes are used. For a start these lessons will be offered only to selected schools. Attendance at museum classes in the last month had totalled 2782. bringing the total for the year to 8439, the education officer (Mr J. H. Johnson) reported.
