Motor Racing BANNING OF CARS

Two Lotuses At Le Mans <N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LE MANS (France), June 22 A special meeting of the race commissioners has upheld She banning of two Lotus entries from the Le Mans 24-hour endurance classic, the Associated Press reported today. The cars were to have been driven by H. L. Shelley, of New Zealand, and L. Geston. of Britain, and J. Clark and T. Taylor, both of Britain. The cars, which were two of five Lotuses entered, were rejected for using four wheel studs on the front, and six on the rear, in violation of race rules. A hasty change made no difference to the decision. A Lotus director and designer of the cars, Mr C. Chapman, said: “This is the last time a Lotus racer will ever appear at Le Mans if I have anything to do with it.”
