Canterbury J Finalists

Amidst the glare of television light* the eight Canterbury finalists in the 1962 “Mrs New Zealand” contest, were yesterday entertained to afternoon tea at the studios of station 3ZB, by the staff of the New Zealand Broadcasting Corporation and the panel of judges. The eight finalists chosen by the panel of four judges are:—Mesdames N. Blain (Christchurch!, P P. C Bowron (Waiau), P. Douglas • Christchurch). F. M. Mein tosh < Ashburton). N. Murdoch (Ashburton), K. R. Perry (Rakaia), M. R. Ward • Christchurch* and R. H Williams (Christchurch!. The four judges were the district manager of the corporation (Mr J. F. Skedden). the commercial manager of station 3ZB (Mr C. H. Cook), the station programme organiser iM.ss Grace Green) and women’s programme announcer (Mrs Molly McNab) Others present were the Mayor iMr G Manning) and Mrs Manning, the winner of the title “Mrs Canterbury. 1960” (Mrs J. P. Templer). and local representatives of airline companies From now until the announcement of “Mrs Canterbury” on July 23. the eight provincial finalists will each take part in a weeklv aft ernoon radio quiz to be organised at the station. The finalist will travel to Wellington for the Dominion final at the end of July. The contest winner win then receive a free visit to the United States with her husband.
