Obituary Dr. E. F. Northcroft
The death occurred recently of Dr. Earle Fead Northcroft, a well-known Dunedin medical practitioner. Dr. Northcroft came from a pioneer New Plymouth family. He was the only son of the late Mr Ernest Northcroft, of Napier, and a cousin of Sir Erima Northcroft. He graduated in science with honours in biology at Otago University in 1923 where he was later assistant lecturer in biology. Dr. Northcroft gained his medical qualifications with honours at Edinburgh. He held posts in the Royal Infirmary there and also with several hospitals in London He entered general practice in Dunedin in 1949 and also lectured to pre-clinical students at the University of Otago Medical School. Dr Northcroft is survived by his wife who. as Brenda Guthrie Northcroft, is the author of several books.
