CONTRACTING INDUSTRY
Over-Supply Of Equipment (N.Z. Press Association) WHANGAREI, June 11. There was an over-supply of equipment for the available work in the contracting industry, said the president of the New Zealand General Contractors’ Federation (Mr D. Horler. of Nelson) in Whangarei. Mr Horler was addressing the annual meeting of the Northland branch of the federation. Mr Horler said although there was a shortage of work, the shortage was not a gross one. The depressed conditions in the industry at the moment were mainly due to lack of confidence members had in each other. Timber For N.Z.— Four hundred thousand super feet of New Guinea timber left New Britain for Auckland, the first shipment to be sent to New Zealand from the territory. It is comprised of taun timber and will be used for the manufacture of veneer.— (Rabaul, June 11.)
