RICCARTON STAND

Details Given Members

Detatils of the new members’ stand at present being built on the site of the old Leger stand at Riccarton racecourse are included in a leaflet which has been distributed to members of the Canterbury' Jockey Club with the annual report.

The leaflet says the new stand will be 230 ft long and 82ft wide, and will seat 2800 which is twice the capacity of the present members’ seating area

A walk-way along the full length of the stand will give standing room for a large number of persons without obstructing the view of those seated behind.

A large lounge bar and a coffee bar will be on the left of the main entrance, and on the right will be a men’s bar, cloakroom and other facilities.

Win and place and doubles facilities will be available on the mezzanine floor, where dividend indicators will be ’ainly visible from the windows in the rear wall. A women’s powder room and a small committee room will also be on this floor. Other work includes the conversion, at a cost of nearly £6OOO. of the building formerly known as the outside tearoom, into a (nembers’ buffet luncheoa ‘zoom.
