Six Years’ Gaol For Rape
(N .Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. June 8 A sentence of six years' gaol was today passed on Vincent Barton Aidworth, aged 26. a motor driver, when he came before Mr Justice Boys at Auckland for sentence on a charge of having raped an elderly widow- at her home in WelLford on December 21 last His Honour said the only question was how manyyears' gaol were called for in the public interest. Oldworth had violently raped the woman. It had been shown that he spent up to £lO a week on liquor and was feeble-minded.
