GUNS FOUND IN FLAT
Man Fined On Four Counts (N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, June 8 Police had searched the flat of David Edward Evans, aged 23. an assistant cabaret manager, and found a .38 revolver. .32 pistol, a 9m.m. automatic pistol and .32 and 9m.m ammunition, Inspector H. J Squire said in the Magistrate's Court today Mr R. ,D. Jamieson. S.M., told Evans, who pleaded guilty to three charges of possessing firearms without authority and one of possessing ammunition without authority, that he would not deal with him on the basis that there was anything sinister in his having the firearms. He fined him £3 on each charge and ordered that the weapons and ammunition be forfeited.
Inspector Squire said that when the police visited Evans’s flat Evans had produced the weapons. He had told the police he was interested in guns and had collected them since leaving school. Only one had been fired, while pig shooting The police had also found shoulder and waist holsters for the guns, said Inspector Squire All the weapons were in firing condition
